IBIS has been working in Sierra Leone since 2006 in support of developing a strong and transparent democracy with an organised, active civil society and an educated population.
Education for Change
IBIS’ Thematic Programme Education for Change is supporting the upgrading of education opportunities for children and youths. The activities include CREPS (an accelerated primary learning programme), youth vocational skills training, technical support to schools and head teachers, and support to School Management Committees, District and City Councils, and District Education Office. The programme is carried out in close corporation with international and local NGOs, and the Ministry of Education.

Citizens’ Rights and Responsibilities in Governance
In partnership with local NGO’s IBIS is working in the areas of civic education, good governance, gender, youth, budget advocacy and extractive industries.
To facilitate the dialogue and corporation between civil society and the government structures, IBIS is likewise supporting national and local authorities in understanding their role as duty bearers.
